The Zodiaque Dance Company will open its 44th season with “Countdown to Celebration 45” Oct. 18-22 in the Drama Theatre in the Center for the Arts, North Campus.
Performance times are 7:30 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday and 2 p.m. on Sunday.
The concert embodies the idea of “versatility matters,” which is the slogan for the UB dance program, notes Kerry Ring, clinical assistant professor of theatre and dance, and director of the Zodiaque Dance Company.
Dancers will perform work in a variety of styles, including modern, jazz, hip hop and Bollywood, Ring says.
Providing choreography are Ring, who is directing the show, as well as UB dance faculty Melanie Aceto and Joyce Miller Lichtenberger.
Also contributing works are two Zodiaque alumni — Chicago-based hip hop artist Richard Ashworth and artist-in-residence Jon Lehrer. Guest artists include AGA Collaborative, New York City-based Bryn Cohn and Artists, and local Bollywood choreographer Gaitrie Devi.
Lighting design is by theatre and dance student Emily Williams.
Tickets to the Zodiaque Dance Company’s 44th fall concert are $20 for general admission and $10 for students and seniors, and may be purchased at the Center for the Arts box office or online at Ticketfly.
The Department of Theatre and Dance’s 2017-18 season takes inspiration from “innovation,” one of the five named UB 2020 themes.
