Following the celebration, head over to UB Stadium to watch the 2018 UB football spring game at 7 p.m.
After winning their Mid-American Conference championships, both teams won their first-round games in the NCAA Tournament for the first time ever, with the 13-seeded men upsetting No. 4 seed Arizona, 89-68, and the 11-seed women upsetting 6-seed South Florida, 102-79. While the men went on to lose their second-round game to fifth-seed Kentucky, 95-75, the women knocked off Florida State on its home court, 86-65, to advance to the Sweet 16 round.
The women’s Cinderella season ended the next weekend in Albany with a 79-63 loss to South Carolina. South Carolina went on to lose to Notre Dame in the championship game, 61-58, on April 1.
