Turning data into action will be the theme of this year’s Assessment Day, an annual event designed to help faculty, staff and administrators develop assessment strategies to improve life and learning on campus.
The symposium, which is free for UB faculty, staff and graduate students, and includes a light lunch, will take place from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Sept. 28 in 145 Student Union, North Campus. Register online by Sept. 19.
This year’s event will focus on how we use data to inform our practice inside and outside of the classroom in an effort to create an ideal learning experience for members of the UB community. The keynote speaker will be Peggy Maki, an educational consultant specializing in assessing student learning in higher education. Her talk is titled “Real-time Student Assessment: A Shared Continuous Commitment to Currently Enrolled Students’ Equitable Achievement of High-Quality Learning Outcomes.”
Maki will also lead an afternoon session titled “Nimble and On-Time Use of Assessment Results for Currently Enrolled Students — The Ones Who Matter Now.”
UB Assessment Day is sponsored by the Center for Educational Innovation, Office of Educational Effectiveness, Office of the Vice President for Student Life, Office of Institutional Analysis and The Graduate School.
