The sixth annual UB Giving Day was originally scheduled for April 21-22, but like most other things at UB and around the world, plans had to be changed. Rather than cancel, however, the Division of University Advancement is forging ahead. The 24-hour virtual event kicks off at noon on June 9.
UB Giving Day builds community in Buffalo and around the world, as alumni, faculty, staff and friends come together for a 24-hour period to support our university. Faculty and staff investment in UB is critical and has a direct impact on our students and the success of our university.
“Though we were sidetracked by COVID, as most things were, the purpose of UB Giving Day has not been, and may have an even stronger sense of urgency,” says N. Geoffrey Bartlett, assistant vice president for annual giving. “Among all the areas to give, this year we anticipate student emergency funds will play more of a starring role so we can help get our students back on their feet and make sure they continue their programs.”
Gifts may be made to any area or cause at UB. Matches and challenges have been made possible by generous donors, including a first-ever SUNY Challenge Match, and will increase the power of gifts and add a little friendly competition.
All are invited and encouraged to help spread the word about UB Giving Day via social media. Text and image resources are available here. You can help your favorite cause meet its challenge, share Giving Day progress reports and other updates with your personal networks, and at the same time help us reach our goal.
Giving back is what brings us together and makes our university great. With your help, we can accomplish what UB Giving Day is meant to do: build community and support our university. Be sure to check out matches and challenges and follow the progress to goal from noon on June 9 to noon on June 10.
