UB updates guidelines for gatherings, events

Published February 4, 2021

The question has come up frequently: Now that New York State has lifted the “orange” and “yellow” microclusters for Erie County, just how many people can attend gatherings and events at UB?

The answers to this question, and many others, can be found on the Health and Safety Guidelines page of UB’s COVID-19 Planning and Response website.

It’s important to note that UB’s guidelines for some gatherings and events are more stringent than the current New York State guidelines. They are based on the recommendations of the university’s health and safety committee, which meets weekly to discuss the prevalence of COVID-19 and the latest science-based efforts to combat it.

In short, large gatherings at UB, whether indoors or outside, are limited to no more than 10 people. For dining, there is a maximum of four people allowed per table.

Social gatherings of up to 10 people are allowed, and all individuals must wear face coverings and maintain physical distancing.

UB’s Health and Safety Guidelines page is updated as guidelines change, and will continue to be refined as conditions continue to improve in ways anticipated by many public health officials.

Updates are noted by date in the left-hand column under each guideline heading, making it easier for readers to see when and if a change has been made.
