Starting Jan. 17, UB will require children ages 5 to 11 have proof they have been vaccinated against COVID-19 to attend public cultural events, including those in Slee Hall, the Center for the Arts and Alumni Arena.
The university has had this policy for spectators ages 12 and older. With the two-dose Pfizer vaccine authorized by the Food and Drug Administration for emergency use for children ages 5 through 11, the university has extended the policy to include this age group for public cultural events. It aligns with the policy for children ages 5 to 11 for sporting events that went into effect Jan. 1.
The updated policy requires children ages 5 to 11 to have at least the first dose of the vaccine to attend public cultural events. By Feb. 14, children ages 5 to 11 who want to attend these events must provide proof at the door that they have completed their vaccination series.
A vaccination card, a photo of a vaccination card, an Excelsior Pass or a digital vaccine card are all acceptable forms of proof.
UB also requires that masks be worn at all times while indoors and in public settings on campus.
