Jacqueline Hollins, associate vice provost and senior executive director for student success and academic support, Office of Academic Affairs, has been named interim vice provost for inclusive excellence, effective Sept. 12.
Hollins, who also serves as unit diversity officer in Academic Affairs, succeeds Despina Stratigakos, who has stepped down as vice provost to return to her faculty role as professor of architecture. An architectural historian, Stratigakos is spending the fall semester as a visiting professor at the University of Copenhagen.
As interim vice provost for inclusive excellence, Hollins will oversee the Office of Inclusive Excellence, including the VITAL (Visiting Future Faculty) program, the Inclusive Excellence Summit and Let’s Talk About Race series, and will facilitate UB’s network of unit diversity officers and its initiatives. She also will oversee SUNY-based diversity, equity and inclusion programs, including PRODiG (Promoting Recruitment, Opportunity, Diversity, Inclusion and Growth).
In her role in academic affairs, Hollins provided outstanding leadership, particularly in the areas of academic advisement, student support services and policy implementation. In 2021-22, she co-led the Staff Recruitment, Mentoring and Advancement Subcommittee of the President’s Advisory Council on Race Implementation Committee.
She is pursuing a PhD in higher education at UB and holds a master’s degree in general education from Canisius College and a bachelor’s degree in business administration/human resources from UB.
UB will launch a national search during the academic year for the university’s next chief diversity officer.
