Members of the UB community can show their UB pride by attending the “blue out” men’s basketball game on Jan. 31.
All attendees at the MAC divisional contest against Akron — tipoff is set for 7 p.m. in Alumni Arena — are encouraged to wear blue to show their UB spirit.
UB undergraduates are admitted to all UB sporting events free of charge, and graduate students can attend the game for free as well by showing their student ID at the Alumni Arena ticket office.
The first 750 students will receive a free True Blue T-shirt, and the first 3,000 fans will receive a blue wand so they can add to the “blue” atmosphere.
Students also can take part in numerous in-game promotions, including making a 94-foot putt to win $5,000 and making a half-court shot to win a $1,000 gas card.
To help commemorate the blue out game, the Center for the Arts, Niagara Falls (beginning at 10 p.m.) and the Peace Bridge (at dusk) will be lit blue.
Those unable to attend in person can still catch the game: It’s being broadcast on ESPN+.
True Blue celebrates the power and the pride of the UB community. The entire UB community is encouraged to share their pride with a photo by using #UBTrueBlue on social media or uploading their photos to the True Blue website.
