Many high school students are unsure about the process of applying to college or what professions are available for them to pursue, according to the Collegiate Science & Technology Entry Program (CSTEP), which helps prepare talented undergraduate students from underrepresented backgrounds to pursue careers in STEM, the licensed professions and health-related fields.

UB’s CSTEP aims to help overcome this obstacle by providing an opportunity for UB students, faculty, staff and representatives of other campus organizations to visit high school students and address their questions about college life, academics and career choices.

CSTEP, part of UB’s Cora P. Maloney Center, will host its annual “Day of Service” from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. March 31 at Health Sciences Charter School, 1140 Ellicott St., Buffalo. Participants will spend the day sharing information with students about preparing for and navigating college.

The CSTEP Day of Service is open to CSTEP students, UB faculty and staff, UB student clubs, fraternities/sororities and any other organization wishing to take part. Participants are not required to stay the full four hours of the event. Limited bus transportation will be provided by CSTEP.
