Global health researchers will gather at UB on April 14 to discuss a wide range of women’s health issues at the 12th Annual Global Health Day Symposium.
This year’s topics include the maternity mortality crisis, health effects of environmental exposures, dietary patterns and periodontal diseases among postmenopausal women, the effects of wars and conflicts on maternal health, dietary pulse consumption and more.
The symposium will run from noon to 4 p.m. in G26 Farber Hall, South Campus. A light lunch will be served. Registration is required.
Junfeng Zhang, professor pf global and environmental health and chair of the Environmental Science & Policy Division in the Nicholas School of the Environment at Duke University, will present the keynote speech, “Air Pollution and Women’s Health: Exposure Vulnerability and Biological Susceptibility.”
Erin M. Bell, professor in the School of Public Health and interim assistant vice president for research compliance at the University at Albany, will present “Global Implication of PFAS exposure and Perinatal Health: What we know, what we don't know and what are we learning.”

Hosted by the Office of Global Health Initiatives, the Global Health Day Symposium is part of SPHHP’s 2023 National Public Health Week celebration.
