Spring into Art, taking place at the Center for the Arts on May 2, allows visitors to enjoy live performances and participate in interactive, art-making stations.
“As a follow-up to our annual fall Art in the Open event, Spring into Art is a new opportunity to highlight the work being made across the arts at UB,” says Jamie Enser, executive director of the Center for the Arts.
The CFA atrium and Screening Room will be bustling with activity, as guests watch live dance, music and musical theater performances; view films, digital projects and installations; and tour art gallery exhibitions.
“Spring into Art is an invitation to the campus and surrounding communities to experience the artistry that happens right here on campus,” Enser says.
Spring into Art is a free event showcasing the creators and artists from the departments of Art, Theatre and Dance, Music and Media Study. The event allows visitors to meet the CFA art community, explore the art galleries and experience UB’s rich offering of art programs.
While many of the festivities and opportunities are similar to Art in the Open, events that are exclusive to Spring into Art include a drop-in printmaking station; atrium exhibits consisting of artwork, costume design and technology; and dance and musical theater performances.
Spring into Art is presented by the Center for the Arts in collaboration with the departments of Art, Media Study, Music and Theatre and Dance; the Arts Management Program; the UB Art Galleries; and the Arts Collaboratory.
Guests can join the artists, meet fellow UB students, faculty and staff for mingling and enjoy free refreshments in the atrium.
The event will conclude with a performance by the Slee Sinfonietta, UB’s professional chamber orchestra in residence and the flagship ensemble of the Robert and Carol Morris Center for 21st Century Music, at 7:30 p.m. in Lippes Concert Hall in Slee Hall. Tickets are $10; UB students are admitted free to UB ID.
