UB’s Center for Urban Studies and Buffalo Public Schools’ Futures Academy are in need of volunteers later this month to assist with the seasonal closing of Futures Garden. The garden is located across the street from Futures Academy, at 155 Orange St., Buffalo.
Volunteers are needed from 1-4 p.m. Oct. 20 to help clear weeds, particularly on the berm, to help facilitate healthier growth of plants and flowers in the upcoming growing season.
Prior gardening experience is not necessary, and all tools and supplies will be provided, along with guidance.
Community members or organizations who would like to participate in the event, or who have questions, may contact A.S.M. Abdul Bari, program assistant for the Center for Urban Studies, at 716-829-5910 or asmbari@buffalo.edu.
The Center for Urban Studies, part of UB’s Community Health Equity Research Institute, has long had a partnership with Futures Academy to help beautify and maintain the garden.
