UK researcher of AI in education to keynote conference

Rose Luckin, a British researcher renowned for investigating the design and evaluation of educational technology — especially AI — will deliver the keynote address at the annual Genteels’ Excellence in Teaching Conference, being held from 10 a.m. to noon Jan. 22 on Zoom.

There is no cost to attend the event, which is presented by the Office of Curriculum, Assessment and Teaching Transformation (CATT). Following the keynote, panelists will discuss “AI and Disruptive Technologies in the Classroom.”

Luckin, professor of learner centered design at University College London’s Knowledge Lab, was named as one of the 20 most influential people in education in the Seldon List, 2017, and is often asked to provide expert evidence to policymakers in both houses of the British Parliament and the European Commission.

Her books include “AI for Schoolteachers” (2022), co-written with Karine George and Mutlu Cukurova, and “Machine Learning and Human Intelligence: The Future of Education for the 21st Century” (2018).

Founder of EDUCATE, the UK’s leading research accelerator program for education technology, she has published widely in academic journals and is host of “The EdTech Podcast.”
