Doctoral students from the prestigious organ studio at the Eastman School of Music will perform on UB’s renowned Fisk Organ in a recital on March 1.
The performance will take place at 7:30 p.m. in Lippes Concert Hall in Slee Hall, North Campus.
Each year for the past 28 years, students in the Eastman Department of Organ, Sacred Music, and Historical Keyboards are chosen by faculty to perform on UB’s Fisk Organ. Recent Eastman students have won organ competitions around the world, as well as hold distinguished organist positions in academia and ecclesiastical settings.
This year, students Jiae Kwak, Alex Little and Jacob Montgomery will perform the following program:
C.M. Widor: Allegro, Movt. 1 from Symphony No. 6
JS. Bach: Prelude and Fugue in G major, BWV 541
Nicolas de Grigny: Tierce en Taille (from Livre d’Orgue, 1699)
Louis Vierne: Final from Symphony No. 4
JS. Bach: Fantasia in G minor, BWV 542/I
C.M. Widor: Allegro vivace, Movt. 1 from Symphony No. 5
Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at Ticketmaster, at the Center for the Arts box office from noon to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, or at the Slee Hall box office an hour before recital time. UB students with a valid ID receive one complimentary ticket and can pick it up at the Slee box office right before the concert.
