Nominations are now being accepted for the annual UB SLICE (Sustainability Leadership, Innovation and Collaborative Engagement) Awards.
As UB continues its efforts to become a more sustainable institution, the SLICE awards recognize outstanding individuals and departments that exhibit a sincere commitment to transforming the campus into a holistically sustainable community through leadership, innovation and collaboration that demonstrates climate action, environmental stewardship and social justice, as well as promotes responsible economic systems.
UB is introducing two new SLICE Awards this year for UB community members who have gone above and beyond to advance sustainability and climate action: awards for action in climate justice and for outstanding sustainability leadership among the university’s alumni.
The SLICE Climate Justice Award will be conferred to an individual who has worked to build equitable and just solutions for marginalized communities in the face of the changing climate through advocacy, policies and/or community engagement.
The Alumni Sustainability Leadership, Innovation and Collaborative Engagement Award will be given to a university alumnus who has advanced exemplary and impactful sustainability and climate action through their professional and/or community work.
In addition to the two new awards, faculty, staff, students, alumni or a department or cross-functional team can be nominated for any of the following categories, either as individuals, departments or partnerships:
Nominations for the 2024 SLICE Awards must be submitted by March 31. Award recipients will be recognized on Earth Day, April 22, at the university’s annual climate action event.
