UB football head coach Pete Lembo is inviting UB faculty and staff to attend the Bulls’ Blue & White Spring Game on April 27.
Admission and parking are free for the 1 p.m. game in UB Stadium. The day will include free giveaways, including T-shirts, hats and thundersticks, as well as family-friendly activities, among them bounce houses, games, a balloon artist, face-painting and more.
The scrimmage is the culmination of the 15 allowable practice sessions that began shortly after the campus returned from spring break, Lembo says. “This will be a great opportunity to support our student-athletes and get a sneak preview of the 2024 team in advance of the season opener against Lafayette at home on Aug. 29,” he says.
“We look forward to building a highly visible program that competes for Mid-American Conference championships and serves as a source of pride for the campus community, as well as the people of Western New York. We believe this begins with strong team unity, as well as a grassroots-type approach, where we develop relationships with our various constituents,” he says. “The mission is off to a pretty good start so far.”
Lembo, who was named the 28th head coach of UB’s football program in January, says he appreciates the “warm reception” that he and the rest of the new coaching staff has received since their arrival in Buffalo. “We are all very impressed with the sincerity and authenticity of the people in Western New York and especially right here in the UB campus community,” he says.
