Once the total solar eclipse has passed through Western New York on Monday, give your eclipse glasses a second chance to shine. UB Sustainability is teaming up with Astronomers Without Borders to provide solar eclipse glasses recycling stations on the North and South campuses.
Instead of throwing your glasses away, drop them off at collection points at 1Capen or the Sustainability Center, 20 Sprague Road in front of Crofts Hall on the North Campus or 1Diefendorf on the South Campus.
Collection starts April 9 and continues through May 1.
Since 2008, Astronomers Without Borders has been collecting solar glasses used for viewing annular and total solar eclipse across the globe and sending them to communities across Africa, Asia, and North and South America that do not have access to these glasses that would allow individuals to safely watch an eclipse.
