UB has become an institutional member of the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU).
HACU represents more than 500 colleges and universities in the United States, Latin America, Spain and school districts throughout the U.S.; its mission is to advocate for Hispanic-serving institutions in the U.S. and around the world, and advance Hispanic servingness — not just enrolling but serving the needs of Latinix students — in higher education.
In addition to policy advocacy at all levels, HACU offers its members a variety of programming and educational resources, as well as various opportunities and scholarships for students at member institutions.
Seval Yildirim, vice provost for inclusive excellence, says she’s excited to get the word out now — during Hispanic Heritage Month — that UB is an institutional member of HACU.
“As with many other universities around the country, our Latinx/Hispanic student population will continue to grow, and we want to make sure that we are serving their needs and celebrating their unique backgrounds,” Yildirim says.
Members of the UB community can access HACU programs, initiatives and information on conferences by visiting the HACU website; no login is required.
