Crowdfunding platform supports campus initiatives

Published October 30, 2024

The Office of Annual Giving is reintroducing PossiBull, a crowdfunding platform designed to help UB faculty, staff and alumni support causes that have a direct impact on the campus community.

Since its inception, PossiBull has raised more than $1 million to support scholarships, research projects, study abroad trips and more.

PossiBull is UB’s space for connecting passionate supporters to impactful causes. The platform is designed to amplify the efforts of campaigns that reflect the heart of UB’s mission: fostering leadership, advancing academic excellence and building a supportive campus community.

PossiBull opens new possibilities for a wide range of projects including, but not limited to:

  • Research projects that need seed funding to explore new ideas or pilot programs.
  • Equipment that students need to get hands-on experience before they graduate.
  • Scholarships and fellowships that offer students opportunities to reach their full potential.
  • Defrayment of study abroad costs so more students can access these life-changing educational opportunities.

The Annual Giving team is hosting three informational sessions to help faculty and staff launch a crowding campaign on PossiBull.

The sessions will cover:

  • What exactly is crowdfunding at UB?
  • What types of projects are best suited for crowdfunding?
  • How crowdfunding on PossiBull works.
  • How to get started and best practices for engaging donors and reaching your fundraising goal.

Sessions will be recorded.

Those who can’t attend one of the scheduled sessions can email Kaley Donaldson in the Annual Giving Office  to have a short presentation delivered at an upcoming staff/department meeting or set up a time to talk one on one about crowdfunding ideas.
