Beaty receives NABLEO leadership award

UB head football coach Pete Lembo congratulates UB Police Chief Kim Beaty on receiving the 2024 Law Enforcement Leadership Award from the National Association of Black Law Enforcement Officers. Lembo and members of the Bulls' athletics staff happened to be at the Marriott when Beaty received the award.

UB Police Chief Kimberly Beaty is the recipient of the 2024 Law Enforcement Leadership Award from the National Association of Black Law Enforcement Officers. The award was presented at the organization’s three-day conference at the Buffalo Marriott Niagara Hotel.

The Law Enforcement Leadership Award recognizes an individual who has contributed greatly to improving the profession, instituted successful crime-prevention programs, provided leadership in closing difficult criminal cases of strong community concern and provided leadership in effort.

Beaty was named chief of University Police in 2023 after serving as director of public safety at Canisius University since 2018. Prior to joining Canisius, Beaty was a member of the Buffalo Police Department for more than 30 years, including four years as deputy police commissioner. 

Beaty is a member of the New York State Association of Chiefs of Police and New York State Women in Law Enforcement. She is the Erie County Law Enforcement Foundation chair and an New York State Interoperable Emergency Communications Board member.

She also serves as a law enforcement training consultant for the Erie County Law Enforcement Training Academy, where she provides professional training for police recruits and veterans.
