Nominations sought for SLICE awards

UB Sustainability is now accepting nominations for the annual UB SLICE (Sustainability Leadership, Innovation and Collaborate Engagement) awards.

As UB continues its efforts to become a more sustainable institution, the university wishes to recognize outstanding individuals and departments who exhibit a sincere commitment to transforming campus into a holistically sustainable community through leadership, innovation and collaboration that demonstrates climate action, environmental stewardship and social justice while promoting responsible economic systems.

Nominees for the SLICE awards must be faculty or staff members, students, alumni or a department or cross-functional team at UB.

Each nomination will be evaluated based on how well the nominee’s actions reflect these sustainability criteria:

  • Going above and beyond routine or assigned responsibilities.
  • Innovation.
  • Overall impact.
  • Ability to serve as a catalyst or model.
  • Engages multiple campus stakeholders.
  • Incorporates multiple aspects of sustainability.

Nominees can be submitted for any of the following categories, either as individuals, departments or partnerships:

  • Student Sustainability Leadership, Innovation and Collaborative Engagement Award.
  • Staff Sustainability Leadership, Innovation and Collaborative Engagement Award.
  • Faculty Sustainability Leadership, Innovation and Collaborative Engagement Award.
  • Alumni Sustainability Leadership, Innovation and Collaborative Engagement Award.
  • Team Sustainability Leadership, Innovation and Collaborative Engagement Award.
  • The SLICE Climate Justice Award.

Nominations can be submitted through this brief nomination form and are due by March 31. Award recipients will be recognized on Earth Day, April 22, at the annual Climate Action Plan Update event.
