Move over Big Blue, there’s a new food truck, err, book cart on campus.

The UB Libraries recently launched Little Blue, a book cart that allows students, faculty and staff to freely take titles they’re interested in or leave books they wish to share with the campus community.

Little Blue is stationed on the ground floor of Capen Hall near Capen Café. After Thanksgiving break, the cart will move to the Student Union until the end of the year. The cart will rotate between the two locations monthly.

The UB Libraries will restock the cart regularly with donated works; however, don’t expect to find textbooks here. The selection ranges from self-help books to best-selling novels, including titles from the “Game of Thrones,” “Twilight” and “Millennium” series, and works from Stephen King.

The book cart draws its inspiration from the Little Free Library, a nonprofit that supports the worldwide movement of book exchanges and pop-up libraries where free books are housed in small containers and offered to the local community.

READER COMMENT

Less than one week old, Little Blue is already a hit with UB students and staff. Visit the Capen Hall lobby when you have a moment and enjoy browsing the ever-changing titles on board the University Libraries' very own Little Blue!
