Faculty members in the Department of Music will be showcased in a pair of faculty recitals this month.
Oboist Megan Kyle will present a program featuring solo oboe and chamber repertoire ranging from Baroque to contemporary — with an emphasis on Buffalo-affiliated composers — at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 5 in Baird Recital Hall, 250 Baird Hall.
Kyle will be joined by colleagues Glenn Einschlag on bassoon and Emlyn Johnson on flute, as well as UB students Nicholas Emmanuel (piano) and Steven Lattimore (percussion), and Wooden Cities founder and UB alumnus Brendan Fitzgerald. The program will feature works by Georg Philipp Telemann, George Rochberg, Allen Sapp, Lejaren Hiller, Ethan Hayden and Meredith Gilna.
On Oct. 10, jazz will be in the spotlight as faculty members and Buffalo jazz heavyweights John Bacon, George Caldwell and Bobby Militello take the stage for a 7:30 p.m. concert in Baird Recital Hall.
The trio will offer a program that celebrates the 100th birthday of legendary jazz artist Thelonious Monk.
Tickets for both recitals are available through a variety of outlets at the following pricing structure:
UB faculty, staff, alumni, seniors and non-UB students
General public
UB students are admitted free with ID.
