UB’s behind-the-scenes television series, “UB Football Insider: Training Camp Edition,” won an Emmy Award in the Sports: Daily or Weekly Program category, the New York Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences announced Saturday at the 61st Annual New York Emmy Awards, held at the Marriott Marquis in New York City.
“UB Football Insider: Training Camp Edition” won over productions from MSG Network, SNY and the YES Network.
It also was nominated in the Sports: Program Series category against competition from Pegula Sports and Entertainment, MSG Plus, the YES Network and the New York Jets.
“This Emmy award is a credit to the student-athletes and our entire athletics staff. We are truly blessed to get to work in such a great environment like college athletics,” said Boone Enser, associate athletics director for communications and broadcasting. “The broadcasting and communications group inside athletics is extremely creative and embraces collaboration like no other staff that I've worked with in my 30 years of storytelling.
“To be able to win this award against competition from such well-respected outlets is a testament to content being produced every day here at UB,” Enser said.
“UB Football Insider: Training Camp Edition,” which aired on WGRZ-TV, took an in-depth, all-access look at the preseason preparation for the 2017 UB football campaign. It followed key players from the UB football team as they balanced practice, workouts and meetings in preparation for the season.
