Troy Miller, assistant vice president for enrollment management at Bowie State University, has been named associate vice provost and director of admissions at UB. The announcement was made today by Lee H. Melvin, vice provost for enrollment management.
Miller’s appointment is effective July 26.
In his new position, Miller will lead all aspects of domestic undergraduate recruitment and admissions at UB. He will be responsible for envisioning and implementing a forward-thinking, innovative and dynamic admissions strategy that continues to enhance academic quality and helps further raise UB to the highest levels of institutional distinction.
“We are very excited to have Troy join our UB community,” Melvin says. “The work of recruiting, enrolling, retaining and graduating a diverse community of scholars from UB requires a campus-wide commitment and visionary leadership in undergraduate admissions, and I believe that in Troy we have found the candidate to lead these efforts. I am confident that he possesses the qualities needed and proven leadership skills to further elevate the Office of Admissions to the next level of excellence.”
A United States Army combat veteran, Miller comes to UB with more than 17 years of progressive experience in enrollment management. He has directed recruitment and enrollment efforts in undergraduate, graduate, transfer and international admissions, financial aid, registrar and summer enrichment programs. He has a strong track record of meeting or exceeding enrollment goals, administering outcome-oriented performance assessments and leading organizations in providing excellent customer service to internal and external constituents.
“My appointment at UB furthers my passion for creating opportunities for all in education, driving enrollment and developing retention programs that increase student engagement from diverse demographics — creating, in turn, a diverse student cohort. It will be an honor to serve the students of UB, as well as to work hard, smart and collaboratively with the great faculty and staff of UB,” Miller says.
Prior to Bowie State, Miller was associate vice president for enrollment management at Coppin State University and director of admissions at the New York Institute of Technology.
Miller received a bachelor of arts in business administration/management from Elizabeth City State University and a master’s degree in human resource management from New York Institute of Technology. He is pursuing a doctorate in education from Morgan State University.
Welcome to UB! I've been here in Admissions a long time, so I must like it, and I hope you will, too. We have a lot of interesting people and places, so I hope you enjoy getting to know Buffalo. I look forward to meeting you.
