The Zodiaque Dance Company, under the direction of Kerry Ring and Jenna Del Monte, concludes its 45th anniversary year by presenting “Zodiaque Dances On” March 7-10 in the Drama Theatre in the Center for the Arts, North Campus.
Performances are at 7:30 p.m. March 7-9 and at 2 p.m. March 10.
“Zodiaque Dances On” is a celebration of the Dance program’s motto "versatility matters," says Ring, clinical associate professor of theatre and dance and artistic director for the Zodiaque Dance Company. The concert, she explains, will highlight multiple genres and stylistic approaches to concert dance, and include jazz, contemporary, hip hop and various styles of modern dance.
The programs features work choreographed by UB dance faculty members Danielle Sheather, Melanie Aceto, Ring and Del Monte; alumni Richard Ashworth and Rebecca Guile Wind; and Tressa Gorman Crehan, a former Zodiaque managing director.
A highlight of the concert will be a work titled “The End of Loneliness,” which was developed by Creative Arts Initiative artist-in-residence Kimberly Bartosik during her weeklong residency at UB during the winter break.
All work will be performed by Zodiaque Dance Company’s 24 cast members, all undergraduate dance majors.
Tickets are $20 for general admission and $10 students and seniors, and can be purchased at the Center for the Arts box office and at ticketfly.com.
