UB is celebrating the 50th anniversary of Earth Day by unveiling an updated Climate Action Plan named “UB’s 10 in 10,” a framework of key strategies the university will work to achieve over the next decade.
To help steward these strategies, UB has named 10 “Climate Captains” who will chair working groups focused on advancing the development of each category. These individuals represent a diverse range of units from across the university, indicative of the university-wide effort that will be needed to help UB achieve its larger goal of achieving climate neutrality by 2030.
“While we are confident in our strategy and approach, much work remains to create specific targeted plans within these key areas to help us achieve our goal of obtaining net climate neutrality,” Laura Hubbard, vice president for finance and administration, wrote in a letter to each Climate Captain.
UB Sustainability will provide key staffing for these efforts, and will work with each Climate Captain in the coming weeks to identify additional committee members.
