Kim, adjunct assistant professor in the Department of Music, has performed around the world as a solo, chamber and orchestral flutist, most extensively under the auspices of the American Russian Young Artists Orchestra and Chamber Players. She has held a solo flute residency with the Novosibirsk Philharmonic in Russia (Siberia), and has appeared at the Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival Society, the Bermuda Arts Festival, the White Nights Music Festival (St. Petersburg, Russia) and at Alice Tully Hall and Merkin Concert Hall in New York City.
She has also toured Japan and Taiwan as principal flute with the Eastman Wind Ensemble and was a prizewinner at the Coleman Chamber Ensemble Competition and the National Flute Association Masterclass Performer’s Competition.
Kim has been guest flutist/piccoloist with the Moscow Chamber Orchestra, the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra and the Erie Chamber Orchestra, among others. She has been a performer and lecturer at National Flute Association conventions and the NYSMTA conference.
In addition to her position at UB, Kim maintains a full studio as senior flute instructor at the Eastman Community Music School, where she chairs the Woodwinds, Brass, and Percussion Department, and directs the Krusenstjerna Scholarship Flute Choir.
Reilly, adjunct professor of violin, specializes in the study and performance of contemporary music. A dedicated collaborator, she frequently works with young composers, often premiering her colleagues’ compositions. As the violinist and co-founder of Duo Purla, she performs regularly with guitarist Tom Torrisi, performing contemporary works and premieres alongside the pillars of the classical repertoire. She is also the violinist of the Alla Balena Ensemble, which premiered El Señor de los Sueños — a multidisciplinary work by composer Carlos Sánchez-Gutiérrez — in Guadalajara in February 2020, featuring the celebrated La Coperacha.
Reilly has performed in numerous contemporary music festivals, among them the Keybank Rochester Fringe Festival and June in Buffalo, and has attended the Bang on a Can Festival twice.
In addition to her role at UB, she teaches violin at Buffalo Suzuki Strings and Buffalo String Works. During her study at the Eastman School of Music, where she received a MB and MM in violin performance, Reilly regularly performed in the Musica Nova Ensemble, under the direction of conductor Brad Lubman, and with the Broadband Ensemble and Eastman’s OSSIA.
