Tesluk named provost at Bentley University

School of Management Dean Paul Tesluk has been named provost and vice president for academic affairs at Bentley University.

Tesluk’s appointment, which came after a nationwide search by Bentley, a private university in Waltham, Massachusetts, is effective Aug. 1.

“Paul Tesluk has a track record of embracing innovative approaches that will serve Bentley well, especially as we look ahead to implementing a new curriculum and strategic positioning process,” said Bentley President E. LaBrent Chrite. “He will join our university at an exciting time in our history and will serve as an important asset to our community as we envision the future of higher education and the role that Bentley will continue to play as a leader in business education.”

A. Scott Weber, provost and executive vice president for academic affairs, cited among Tesluk’s accomplishments as UB management dean the introduction of a new undergraduate program in informational technology and management, a master’s degree in business analytics and a rapidly expanding set of micro-credentials and non-degree programs, as well as innovations in existing programs.

Weber called Tesluk “a collaborative dean who has built partnerships with other schools to offer unique educational and research opportunities, including the Stephen Stills Institute for Sustainable Transportation and Logistics, the Institute for Computational and Data Sciences, and the Social Impact Fellows program.”

Tesluk joined the UB faculty in 2011 as the Donald S. Carmichael Professor of Organizational Behavior in the Department of Organizational and Human Resources. He was named dean in 2016.

Tesluk announced in November that he was stepping down as dean to return to his faculty role as Carmichael professor.

Ananth V. Iyer, an expert in operations and supply chain management and senior associate dean at Purdue University’s Krannert School of Management, will assume the position as dean of the UB School of Management on Aug. 1.
