UB to celebrate faculty and staff excellence

Members of the UB community will once again gather to recognize the achievements of outstanding faculty and staff at the 19th annual Celebration of Faculty and Staff Academic Excellence on Oct. 27.

The celebration will take place at 3:30 p.m. in Lippes Concert Hall in Slee Hall, North Campus.

The event will include a welcome by President Satish K. Tripathi, remarks by Provost A. Scott Weber and on-stage recognition of faculty and staff in several categories:

• Awards that are recognized as “prestigious” or “highly prestigious” by the National Research Council.
• SUNY Distinguished faculty.
• SUNY Chancellor’s Awards for Excellence.
• UB Distinguished Professor.
• 50 years of service at UB.

The ceremony will also feature a performance by guitarists Stephen Guerra, clinical assistant professor of music, and Sungmin Shin, associate professor of music. They will perform Guerra’s “Já valeu,” a Brazilian choro arranged for guitar duo.

A reception will be held in the Slee lobby following the ceremony.

A selection of other research, teaching and mentoring awards received by faculty and staff during 2022 are listed on the Celebration of Academic Excellence website.
