The UB football team will face Georgia Southern in the 2022 Camellia Bowl on Dec. 27 in the historic Cramton Bowl in Montgomery, Alabama.
It will be the Bulls’ second appearance in the game; they defeated Marshall, 17-10, in the 2020 contest.
UB finished the regular season with a 6-6 record to become bowl eligible for the seventh time in program history. The 2022 Camellia Bowl will be the university’s sixth bowl game and fourth in five years. The Bulls are looking for their third straight bowl win after defeating Charlotte in the 2019 Bahamas Bowl and Marshall in the 2020 Camellia Bowl.
The Camellia Bowl, named after the Alabama state flower, will be UB’s first meeting with Georgia Southern. The Eagles, members of the Sun Belt Conference, also finished the regular season 6-6.
Georgia Southern is led by a familiar face in quarterback Kyle Vantrease, who was a member of the UB football team from 2017-21 before transferring. Ironically, Vantrease was the Bulls’ starting quarterback when they won the 2020 Camellia Bowl.
The Camellia Bowl will kick off at noon EST on Dec. 27 and air on ESPN.
