True Blue is more than a color — it’s a spirit. And these students manifest it in every way. The following six individuals were selected to become official True Blue student ambassadors for their pride, engagement and ability to motivate everyone around them, building a greater sense of community and belonging throughout the university. Here, in their own words on social media, they show us all what it means to be True Blue.
Natalie Cherwaty (she/her)
Sophomore, communications
“Coming to UB as an out-of-state transfer made it a little harder for me to adjust. That’s why I wanted to become a True Blue ambassador. It’s a great opportunity to help me connect and engage with the school, community and other students.”

William Dong (he/him)
First-year student, undecided/exploratory
“I wanted to be a True Blue ambassador because I believe that everyone should feel a sense of belonging within the Buffalo community. I want to spread that pride across campus, connect with students and encourage them to become more involved and gain a sense of passion for Buffalo as more than a place for education. As a student, I’m most proud of the positive impact we make within the community.”

Mikaj Karki (he/him)
First-year student, computer science
“I wanted to be a True Blue ambassador so I could showcase UB and contribute to the community. I have experience representing myself in this way, after taking part in ‘Mr Nepal.’ I enjoy representing UB from a different perspective that people don’t often see.” Read more about Mikaj in this UBNow story.

Alexandra Rothenburgh (she/her)
Graduate student, MBA
“I love our university and want prospective students to choose UB over other schools. I am so proud to be part of the community for the amazing opportunities students are offered, whether career-related or fun events. It’s always felt like home ever since I was an undergraduate, so I chose to stay here to get my MBA. Even after I graduate this spring, I hope to find a job in Buffalo so I can remain in the same area that I’ve loved for five years. Let’s go Bulls!!🤘💙”

Emery Taylor (she/they)
First-year student, Spanish/Spanish education
“I LOVE UB! I fell in love with the school the day I toured it. I know many people who have attended, and I love the connections this school has allowed me to form. I adore the way UB opens doors to endless opportunities, from new friendships and diverse cultures to unique experiences through countless clubs and activities. It gives you the ability to develop new goals inspired by a devoted team of professors, advisers and mentors. As a True Blue ambassador, I want to bring people together across campus, with spirit and open-mindedness. Horns up! 🤘”

Alika Turton (she/her)
Junior, political science
“I’m proud to be True Blue and part of the UB community because of the countless leadership and networking opportunities I have experienced as an undergrad. I wanted to become a True Blue ambassador to help increase the amount of students that show their True Blue pride, introduce students to the many activities/programs they can participate in and also grow student participation in unique leadership opportunities, like this.”
