UB to celebrate faculty and staff excellence

Members of the UB community will gather on Oct. 24 to recognize the achievements of outstanding faculty and staff at the 21st annual Celebration of Faculty and Staff Academic Excellence.

The celebration will take place at 3:30 p.m. in Slee Hall, North Campus.

Robert Granfield, vice provost of faculty affairs, will emcee the event. He and other university leaders will announce the recognition and awards of faculty and staff in several categories:

  • National and international awards that are recognized as prestigious by the Center for Measuring University Performance, the National Research Council and UB’s academic deans.
  • SUNY Distinguished faculty.
  • SUNY Chancellor’s Awards for Excellence.
  • UB Distinguished Professor.
  • 50 years of service at UB.

The ceremony will also feature a violin performance by Grammy Award-winner Melissa White, professor, Department of Music. She will perform “Partita No. 3 in E Major, Preludio” by J.S. Bach.

A reception will be held in Slee Hall following the ceremony.

A selection of other research, teaching and mentoring awards received by faculty and staff during 2024 are listed on the Celebration of Academic Excellence website.
