The UB football team has been selected to play in the Bahamas Bowl, it was announced today. The Bulls will face the Liberty Flames on Jan. 4 in Thomas A. Robinson National Stadium in Nassau.

It’s a return trip to the islands for the Bulls, who won the 2019 Bahamas Bowl by defeating Charlotte, 31-9.

The Bulls, under first-year head coach Pete Lembo, finished the regular season with an 8-4 record, marking just the third time in their FBS history the Bulls won eight games in the regular season.

UB will be playing in its seventh bowl game in program history and its fifth in the last seven years. The Bulls have won their last three bowl games, including the 2022 and 2020 Camellia Bowl and the 2019 Bahamas Bowl.

The Bulls will face a Liberty team that finished the regular season 8-3. It will mark the first time two eight-win teams have played in the Bahamas Bowl. UB is 0-3 all-time against the Flames — most recently playing them at UB Stadium just last season.

The game will kick off at 11 a.m. and air on ESPN2.
