Some North Campus neighbors watch for traffic before crossing to join their friends on the other side of the road. According to the state Department of Environmental Conservation, more than 600 geese return to UB each spring, and others stop by before flying elsewhere. Keep in mind that Canada geese are a federally protected species and it's illegal to harm them. “Harm” is interpreted broadly to include disturbance of any kind, so keep an eye out, and leave the geese alone.
