Strength and resilience

Dean Seneca, adjunct instructor in the School of Public Health and Health Professions and founder and CEO of Seneca Solutions, spoke at the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences last Thursday about the trauma and resilience of Indigenous people. Behind Seneca is a photo of the six-day takeover in 1972 of the Bureau of Indian Affairs building in Washington, D.C., by hundreds of Indigenous people, an event that Seneca says illustrates "the tremendous amount of strength and resilience we have as Indigenous people to survive the convoluted history we have with the U.S." The talk was sponsored by the Jacobs School’s Office of Inclusion and Culture Enhancement and its Social Justice Fellowship.
