Sleep. Sneakers. Sports. Sugar. No matter what piques your interest, one of the teams competing in this year’s UB Statistics Program Competition probably looked at it statistically. Forty students from local high schools took part in the annual contest hosted by the School of Public Health and Health Professions. The teams presented posters with an analysis of an assigned data set. Taking first place was “Testing Times: Online vs. Paper,” a project by the “Approximately Normal” team from Grand Island High School that looked at whether the format of a test affects how long someone takes to complete it.
