  • ‘Take Back the Night’ to support student empowerment

    UB’s Sexual Violence Prevention and Response Unit will hold its annual “Take Back the Night” rally and information sharing event to combat domestic and sexual violence on campus from 4-9 p.m. Oct. 26 on the North Campus.
  • Volunteers needed for Futures Academy garden

    UB’s Center for Urban Studies and Buffalo Public Schools’ Futures Academy are in need of volunteers later this month to assist with the seasonal closing of Futures Garden. The garden is located across the street from Futures Academy, at 155 Orange St., Buffalo.
  • History-making ‘Jeopardy!’ champ to open speakers series

    “Jeopardy!” champion Amy Schneider, the first openly transgender contestant to qualify for the game show’s Tournament of Champions, will speak at UB on Oct. 19 to kick off the 2023-24 Distinguished Speakers Series.

    As part of UB’s commitment to achieving climate neutrality, the university is working hard to decarbonize its heating and cooling systems, and become more efficient. However, as the transition to this work occurs, the fall and spring shoulder seasons present challenges to UB’s existing heating and cooling infrastructure.
  • UB expects minimal short-term impact from federal government shutdown

    UB expects minimal short-term impacts to current research projects and no interruption in the disbursement of student financial aid should the federal government shut down on Oct. 1.

    UB research projects that have already received federal grant funding should not be immediately affected by a shutdown. However, with agencies such as the National Institutes of Health and the National Science Foundation likely to furlough workers during a shutdown, UB researchers would be unable to receive new federal grant funding or technical assistance from federal agencies on new or recently submitted grant applications.
  • New York State launches SUNY university center endowment challenge

    As part of a statewide initiative to improve education and spur investment in SUNY, Gov. Kathy Hochul announced the first-ever state matching fund for SUNY endowment contributions during her State of the State address earlier this year.
  • Feedback sought on Middle States self-study

    UB has completed a draft of the self-study required for reaccreditation by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education, and members of the UB community are invited to review the document and provide feedback. 
  • UB maternal health forum celebrates the life of Pearl Young

    Improving maternal health outcomes is the focus of “A Mother Pearl Young Legacy Forum on Hope and Healing: Advancing Key Maternal Health Policies” being held Sept. 29 at the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences at UB.
  • SPHHP reaccredited for another seven years

    The School of Public Health and Health Professions has been reaccredited by the Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH) for the next seven years, the longest term possible.
