Exhibitions to open
Two exhibitions will open Nov. 13 in the UB Art Gallery in the Center for the Arts with public receptions from 5-7 p.m.
“Noncommittal: A Prospective Glance,” a group exhibition featuring work by three recent graduates of the Department of Visual Studies, College of Arts and Sciences, is on view in the Second Floor Gallery.
The exhibition is the inaugural collaboration between the UB Art Gallery and the Department of Visual Studies. The artists—Chris Bettencourt, Christine Goerss and Colin Griffin—will attend the reception.
“MicroCosmic,” works from the permanent collection of the UB Art Galleries, is on exhibit in the First Floor Gallery. It is co-curated by Sandra Q. Firmin and Robert Scalise.
Both exhibitions, which are free and open to the public, will be on view through Feb. 7
The UB Art Gallery is open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, with extended hours until 7 p.m. on Thursday. The gallery will be closed for winter session from Dec. 9 through Jan. 10 and will reopen on Jan. 13.

Ensembles to perform during festival
The Department of Music for the first time will present most of the student ensemble performances for the semester as part of a five-day festival, “Autumn Timbres.”
The festival will run from Nov. 20 through Nov. 24; performances will take place either in Baird Recital Hall, 250 Baird Hall, or Lippes Concert Hall in Slee Hall, all on the North Campus. All concerts will be free and open to the public.
Consolidating all performances into one festival will allow parents and other concertgoers to see more than one student ensemble performance during a visit to UB.
Performing during Autumn Timbres will be the Flute Studio, UB Choir and Chorus, Genkin Philharmonic, Contemporary Ensemble, Concert Band, Saxophone Ensemble, Percussion Ensemble and Jazz Ensemble.
