Contract workers are second-class citizens
To the Editor:
It is a welcome event to see the article regarding the Kelly Girl strategy.
I was a contract employee at a major Lockport manufacturer for 11 years. Contract workers were not entitled to the same wages and benefits for the same positions as permanent employees. There became a culture of non-employees vs. employees that overflowed into meetings, raises, in-house training, etc.
It was like being a second-class citizen of a small, frustrating world.
