President John B. Simpson and Erie Community College President Jack Quinn have been named honorary chairs of the 2010 Empire State Games, to take place in Buffalo July 21-25, 2010.

Arts in Health Care, a collaboration of UB, Roswell Park Cancer Institute and Women and Children’s Hospital, received a Trailblazer award from the Arts Council in Buffalo and Erie County at the council’s 23rd Arts Awards Luncheon last week. The Arts in Health Care initiative, the brainchild of Thomas Burrows, executive director of the Center for the Arts, brings artists and performers into health care settings to enhance the healing environment for patients and caregivers.

Michael A. Rivera, senior career planning and development associate in the Office of Career Services, was recognized for 20 years’ service to the Western New York Association of College Career Centers (WNYACCC ) during the 2009 Human Services Career Fair, held earlier this month at UB. WNYACCC was founded in 1968 as a non-profit organization of professionals from Western New York college career centers.
