Kimball keeps ‘eat well, live well’ lead

Published: April 30, 2009

More than halfway through the “eat well. live well. challenge” between Crofts Hall, Kimball Tower and the Educational Opportunity Center, Kimball continues to hold the lead in the health promotion organized by Wegmans and sponsored by University Human Resources,

Through April 25, Kimball participants are leading in both the average number of cups of fruits and vegetables they have eaten each day—4.7 cups—and the average number of steps taken each day—10,023 steps.

There is no clear-cut holder of second place: EOC is in second place in steps, with an average of 10,008, while Crofts holds second place in cups of fruits and vegetables eaten, with an average of 4.54.

Crofts has averaged 9,278 steps; EOC has averaged 4.48 cups.

The goal of the “eat well. live well. challenge” is to encourage individuals to move more and increase the amount of fruits and vegetables they consume. Participants use pedometers to count and record the number of steps they take each day and tally the number of cups of fruits and vegetables they eat each day. Data is recorded online.

The contest, which began on March 22, runs through May 16.
