UB Reporter to cease print publication
This week’s issue is the last of the print UB Reporter, the faculty and staff newspaper that dates back to 1970. Printing of the publication will cease as University Communications continues to cut its expenses in line with reduced state funding to the university.
The online UB Reporter will continue as the university’s publication of record. The online publication will be expanded to include additional features, multimedia and interactive functions. It will continue to publish on Thursdays, and will be updated regularly as major news occurs.
To ensure that you do not miss an issue of the online UB Reporter, you can subscribe to receive a weekly email notification that a new issue has been posted.

I'm sad to see the demise of The Reporter as a print newspaper. It has had a pretty good run since it first appeared in the midst of the campus riots in 1970. No doubt it is now just going the way of the world. But If the online version is truly going to be a journal of record , it would be imperative to preserve the electronically produced content indefinitely. Over the years, a major portion of the information and documents sought about UB matters could be found in the copies and index maintained in the University Archives. That capacity to retrieve information on a permanent basis needs to be preserved if UB is not to suffer a serious loss of memory. I'm sure that the director of University Archives and other pertinent Libraries staff would be pleased to work with Publications staff to avoid such an information calamity.
