Kimball wins ‘eat well’ challenge
Kimball Tower has won UB’s first “eat well. live well. challenge,” finishing ahead of Crofts Hall and the Educational Opportunity Center in the health promotion organized by Wegmans and sponsored by University Human Resources.
Participants from Kimball averaged 9,760 steps and 4.7 cups of fruits and vegetables during the eight-week contest.
EOC participants averaged 9,511 steps and 4.5 cups to take second place, while Crofts participants averaged 8,935 steps and 4.4 cups for third place.
Team 11 from the School of Public Health and Health Professions in Kimball won the overall challenge, leading the pack in both steps and cups. The team—Sue Arnold, Dennis Bertram, Harold Burton, Keith Conroy, Mary Dedrick, Joan Dorn, Tim Englert, Dale Fish, Allison Garvey, Tracey Gawron, Diane Gayles, Gary Giovino, Peter Horvath, Marc Kiviniemi, Karl Kozlowski, Lynn Kozlowski, Heidi Kuwik, Maureen Lannen, Eva Monnier, Mike Noe, Heather Orom, Candi Possinger, Barb Putzig, Dan Ramsey, Sharon Roberts, Terri Rose, Don Rowe, Michael Anton Sciortino, Barb Sen, John Stone, Jan Tona, April Whitehead, Paul Wietig and Veronica Young—averaged 5 cups and 11,085 steps.
Taking second place in cups was Team 1, Human Resources, Crofts, averaging 4.89 cups. Team 9, Nursing, Kimball, averaged 4.74 cups for third place.
Team 6, Sponsored Project Services, Crofts, took second in steps, averaging 10,454, while Team 10, Nursing, Kimball, averaged 9,989 steps for third place.
Over the course of the competition, all the participants walked a total of 121,891,264 steps and consumed a total of 59,795.9 cups of fruits and vegetables.
