  • Philharmonic to open UB on the Green

    The Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra will perform July 21 in the first concert in this year’s UB on the Green, a free, outdoor, family-friendly festival of music and dance presented by the UB Office of Community Relations.

    The concerts will be held from 6-8 p.m. July 21, July 28 and Aug. 4 on the Hayes Hall lawn on the South Campus. UB community members and residents of the South Campus neighborhoods are encouraged to bring food and beverages, blankets and lawn chairs to the alcohol-free event. Refreshments also will be available for purchase.

    In addition to the Philharmonic, performers featured in this year’s UB on the Green are Neville Francis & The Riddim Posse and The Budos Band on July 28 and Taylor Made Jazz and Giordano Jazz Dance Chicago on Aug. 4.

  • Capen Garden Walk set for July 18

    The eighth annual Samuel P. Capen Garden Walk, a summer tradition that showcases the neighborhoods surrounding the South Campus, including University Heights and Eggertsville, while building community among neighbors, will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 18.

    There is no fee to enter a garden in the walk, and the event will be held rain or shine. It is a joint initiative between UB and local neighborhood partners.

    Maps are available from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the University Community Farmers Market on Main Street at Kenmore Avenue on the South Campus, as well as at 22 Larchmont Road; 38 Brinton St.; 135 and 405 Capen Blvd.; and 67 Highgate Ave. during the hours of the walk.
