James A. “Beau” Willis is stepping down as UB’s executive vice president for university support services, President John B. Simpson announced today in an e-mail communication to university employees.

“On behalf of all members of UB’s senior leadership,” Simpson said, “I would like to personally thank Beau for his excellent work and leadership. He has been a key contributor in conceptualizing UB 2020, and his efforts have contributed to the significant strides we are making together in advancing its goals.

“Beau’s strategic leadership,” he added, “has been instrumental in strengthening relationships with key university partners; developing our comprehensive physical master plan, Building UB; establishing the UB Gateway building on our downtown campus; and strengthening our administrative infrastructure.”

Simpson announced that departments that had reported to Willis will report on an interim basis to other senior administrators. UB Facilities will report to Dennis Black, vice president for student affairs. The Office of the Chief Information Officer will report to Satish K. Tripathi, provost and executive vice president of academic affairs. The Controller’s Office will report to Scott Nostaja, vice president for human resources and chief of staff, Office of the President.

“These reporting relationships will remain in place while I will evaluate UB’s administrative needs to determine the most appropriate organizational structure as we move forward,” Simpson said.
