  • It has been a pleasure, as well as an honor, to work in the UB Libraries since the mid-1970s. I signed on with a former director of university libraries to help administer the creation of library spaces on the new North Campus and to move South Campus resources to the newly completed facilities. That done, I was charged with getting up to speed with regard to how computing could be incorporated into academic libraries, ours in particular, to make services more effective and efficient and to make information more accessible. I am proud to have been able to assemble a fantastic team of dedicated librarians and library staff who were willing and able to work outside the boundaries of the fields for which they had been formally educated with the common goal of improving our organization. I am proud to have been successful in scraping together the resources to fuel an extreme revamping of how information resources are provided at UB. I am very proud of the changes we have made and the enthusiasm with which our work has been received by our university community.

  • I have been employed at UB for 38 years and have had the privilege of serving as a department chair, dean, associate provost and even provost for a period of time. Throughout my career, I have taught both at the graduate and undergraduate levels. My proudest moment was the standing ovation I received at the conclusion of a graduate course, my very first year at UB.

  • I am proud to have worked with a nice group of people since I began working at the university in 1980. Not only have I met some nice people during my UB years, but some of them have turned out to be very true friends. I am also proud of the fact that since joining the university community, I have become “computer literate” to a degree. I can now find my way around the computer. I have been able to expand my horizons to a great degree with good friends and life itself.

Congratulations to Ken Levy upon his retirement. I enjoyed working with him when he was Dean of Social Sciences. Now that he is retired, maybe I'll see him at more of the opera events.
