Capen Garden Walk set for Saturday
More than 60 private gardens and public spaces will be showcased during the ninth annual Samuel P. Capen Garden Walk on Saturday in the neighborhoods surrounding the UB South Campus.
The gardens in University Heights, Eggertsville and Amherst may be toured from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Maps will be available at the University Community Farmers Market on Main Street at Kenmore Avenue from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., and during tour hours at 22 Larchmont Road, 135 Capen Blvd., 17 Maynard Drive, 38 Brinton St., 201 Minnesota Ave. and 178 Minnesota Ave.
This free event is presented by the University Heights Collaborative, the Eggertsville community and UB.
CFA offers Technical Theater Program
The Center for the Arts will offer a Technical Theater Program for high school students, college students and adults from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Aug. 11-13 in the Center for the Arts, North Campus.
This hands-on workshop program covers basic technical theater topics and aims to introduce technical skills and knowledge in a professional environment where students can gain experience working with current lighting, sound and staging technology. Workshops are taught by UB faculty and staff.
The total cost for the program $165, which includes instruction, classroom materials and lunches. Space is limited and is on a first-come, first-served basis. The deadline for registration is July 30.

The Health Sciences Library is seeking items to sell at its fourth annual garage sale to benefit UB’s 2010 Campaign for the Community.
All proceeds from the sale, to be held Sept. 10-11, will be designated for local health-related charities.
Organizers are looking for new or gently used items—no clothing, toys or baby items, please.
Donations can be dropped off through Sept. 1 at the Health Sciences Library, Abbott Hall, South Campus, and at the Law Library in O’Brian Hall, North Campus, or be sent to the Health Sciences Library via Campus Mail.
All donations are tax deductible.
