  • TCIE names business development officer

Gary Simon has been named director of business development at UB’s Center for Industrial Effectiveness (TCIE).

In addition to responsibilities for custom student programming and certificate programs to serve the needs of the business community, Simon will continue to promote business process excellence, engineering solutions and UB research throughout the region and state to new prospects and current partners, while providing business development leadership and direction.

A business development officer at TCIE since 2005, Simon has helped companies develop partnerships with UB’s School of Engineering and Applied Sciences. The recipient of a Six Sigma Green Belt, he has been responsible for projects that range from complex product design to optimization of process flow. He has more than 19 years in the business and economic development field, and has helped hundreds of companies identify resources to sustain and grow their business.

Simon holds a bachelor’s degree from Syracuse University and an MBA from Pennsylvania State University.

TCIE provides a dynamic link between UB’s expert resources and the region’s business community. A program of the UB School of Engineering and Applied Sciences, TCIE fosters partnerships and manages projects as diverse as the region’s businesses, and is a premier provider of Lean Six Sigma training and mentoring.
