University Club announces fall meetings
Faculty and staff can join their colleagues to share ideas and make new friends at the weekly meetings of the University Club, held from 4-6 p.m. Wednesdays during the academic year in the Tiffin Room in the Student Union, North Campus.
The fall semester meetings will run from Sept. 1 through Dec. 8, with the exception of Nov. 24.
Complimentary light refreshments will be available.
The University Club is sponsored by the Office of the Provost, the Faculty Senate and the Professional Staff Senate.

Suicide prevention training to be held
Counseling Services is offering free sessions to train faculty and staff in the nationally recognized “Question, Persuade and Refer” (QPR) suicide prevention program.
QPR is a behavioral intervention that focuses on getting a distressed individual referred for professional help. It is intended to teach faculty, staff and students how to recognize the warning signs of suicide, including verbal, behavioral and situational clues. QPR provides direction as to how to Question a person about suicidal thoughts, Persuade them to get help and Refer the person for help.
Presented by a certified QPR instructor, 90-minute training sessions will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 9 in 210 Student Union, from 3-5 p.m. Oct. 18 in 210 Student Union and from noon to 2 p.m. Nov. 16 in 250 Student Union.

Credit union serves UB community
UB faculty, staff, students and their families are eligible to join the Morton Lane Federal Credit Union, a credit union serving mostly New York State employees.
The credit union offers a variety of services, including savings and checking accounts, personal and automobile loans, first and second mortgages, and VISA debit and credit cards.
Offices are located at 388 Englewood Ave., Buffalo, near the South Campus, and in 326 Crofts Hall, North Campus. Branches also are located at Roswell Park Cancer Institute and Buffalo State College.

Workshop to tackle ‘coaching’ skills
“Coach Employees to Excellence,” a workshop designed to teach supervisors the basic principles of coaching employees using a structured coaching model, will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 10 in 324 Crofts Hall, North Campus.
The workshop, offered by the Organizational Training and Development unit in University Human Resources, is free of charge and open to all UB employees who supervise at least one other employee or lead a team or project.
